It’s that time of year again. The time when you know Summer is coming but it’s not quite here. The sky is getting brighter, the grass is getting greener and life seems to be picking up after the dark winter. This is the time when we fall back in love with nature. We start to remember how much we love biking around town or tanning on the grass. The daily grind seems to fade away and time just starts to fly. This mixtape provides the perfect soundtrack for this time of year. This mixtape is for wearing flip flops and shorts for the first time in 4 months. It’s for blazing down the highway and blasting your favorite tunes with the windows down. It’s for having a cold beer with some friends in your backyard. It’s for looking up at the blue sky and realizing that everything will be alright. Enjoy.

905 Mixtape: Thinkin Bout You

This has gotta be one of the most cliche ideas for a mixtape ever but for some reason I’m still doing it. Music means a lot of different things to different people but if you’re like me certain songs can evoke extremely vivid memories out of you when you least expect it. Such was the case when I listened to Frank Ocean’s “Thinkin About You” for probably the 10th time this weekend. It was like a trip down memory lane, remembering all the girls I’ve gotten over but still manage to worm their way into my mind. This isn’t a whiny “why didn’t you stay with me” mixtape. It’s nothing of the sort. It’s more about those people that stay with you days, weeks, months or years after you meet them. It’s about the ones who changed you for better or worse and made you into the person you are now. This mixtape is for the ones who got away and left you reeling. It’s for the heartbreak and the inevitable rebound. It’s for remembering the mistakes that you will never ever make again. But most of all, it’s for making the best of the things you can control and letting go of the things things that you can’t. I hope you enjoy it.

905 Mixtape: Only Life

This weekend has been a whirlwind for me. Now I’m not one to post my problems on the internet. I absolutely hate when people post their problems as their statuses and what not. Instead, I value people being able to confide in their most trusted friends and being able to piece themselves back together when the world knocks them down. I had plenty of “life isn’t fair” moments this weekend but in the end I have to consider the fact that I’m one of the most fortunate people on Earth. Being a DJ, attending university, having kickass friends and just typing this post on my Macbook put me in probably the top 10% of the world. With that being said, there’s still great value in being able to express yourself and your issues in a healthy way. I guess that’s the whole reason I made this blog in the first place. This mixtape is incredibly personal this time around. I’m not going into details but it basically tells the story of my weekend. This mixtape is for putting aside the “what ifs” and finally going out doing it. It’s for picking yourself up when your world seemingly falls apart around you. It’s for appreciating what you have and seeing the beauty of it all. Cheers.

905 Mixtape: Stage Dive

Another week, another mixtape! This one is a bit different than normal since it is composed entirely of hip-hop tracks. This is all “Indie-Style” or “White Boy” hip hop or whatever you want to call it. It has everything from Childish Gambino to Chiddy Bang to Mac Miller and Hodgy Beats. If you weren’t feeling my previous mixtapes, this could be just the one for you. As always the mixtape is based off a central theme. Recently I’ve been DJing a lot more gigs and I made this to reflect how much I love performing in front of crowds. Everytime I connect with someone in the crowd it makes the whole thing worth it and I can honestly say that I love what I do. Not everyone can say that and I’m incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity. This mixtape is for getting back to your room after 5 hours of lectures and tossing yourself on your bed. It’s for jumping in the pool at the first sign of warm weather. This mixtape is for taking the chance to get up in front of people and let loose. I promise you won’t regret it.
